A free music school for kids who'd never get one

Every child deserves a soundtrack.

Toucan Music puts real instruments in the hands of underprivileged children โ€” with free weekly classes, a lending library, and a stage to play on. Taught by volunteers. Powered by neighbors like you.

What we run, week after week

Every program is free for students. No auditions, no rental fees, no fine print โ€” just show up.

๐ŸŽป

After-school ensembles

Small-group classes in strings, percussion, and voice, twice a week. Kids learn by playing together from day one.

๐ŸŽบ

Instrument lending library

Every student takes an instrument home for the season. Donated, repaired, and re-tuned by our volunteers.

๐ŸŽค

Showcase nights

Monthly performances for families and the neighborhood. The first stage most of our students ever stand on.

How volunteering works

You don't have to be a musician โ€” we need helping hands at every class and event. Each calendar entry has a set number of volunteer spots, so you always know where you're actually needed.

1

Make an account

Sign up as a volunteer in under a minute. Students sign up the same way.

2

Pick from the calendar

Open any class or event to see how many volunteer spots are left, and claim one.

3

Get reminded

A weekly email with what's coming up, plus a nudge an hour and thirty minutes before each class. Adjustable in your settings.

The next class is already on the calendar.

Students grab a seat. Volunteers grab a spot. Either way, you're in the room where it happens.
